NIEL-SEAL / INDUSTRIAL SEALING
End-shield interfaces require equipment-specific materials and maintenance procedures.
Some large generators use hydrogen as the cooling medium inside their casing. Controlling leakage supports safe operation and the integrity of the cooling system.
End shields form part of the casing boundary. Their split joints and interfaces with the stator frame are among the joints addressed by the equipment’s sealing design.
Some designs provide grooves or channels at these interfaces. Sealing compound is introduced using specialised application equipment as specified by the OEM. This is distinct from applying a generic sealant to any joint face.
